Various fabrication techniques can be used to fabricate Aluminium Composite Panels. It is recommended to do most of the fabrication work in the workshop to minimise defects, exercise overall quality control and to attain high level of accuracy.

If fabrication needs to be carried on at site we need to ensure that the work is carried on using correct table, tools, necessary precautions and skilled trained labour.

The material can be cut to any configuration with a jigsaw or comparable device. Unsatisfactory cuts are being produced because of-

  • Blunt cutting edges.
  • Working the material too fast.
  • Frictional heat being generated at the cut.
  • Excessive vibration in the tool or material.

The tool is inadequately supported at times normal cooling techniques are likely to be unsatisfactory with the ACP due to poor thermal conductivity of polyethylene core.

The blade configuration and the cutting conditions should be therefore be carefully selected so that frictional forces are minimized and therefore the heat produced during the process is kept to the minimum.
